Mission

Within the AI Innovation Division, to shape generative AI solutions for our clients' business and operational challenges, and to lead a team that takes them all the way to production.

About this role

Our Lead AI Engineer leads the Forward Deployed team. You lead the engineers embedded at the client, discuss the problems directly with their executives, decide where and how AI should be applied, and own both the production launch and the commercial outcome of the engagement. The role carries both technical judgment and client-facing responsibility.

What you will do
  • Lead the Forward Deployed teamLead the engineers embedded at the client and design how the engagement runs.
  • Work with client executives and business unitsDraw out the problems, propose where AI applies, and explain the return on investment.
  • Design the solution architectureOwn the overall design and technology selection across generative AI, RAG, AI agents and the data platform.

Mission

As part of the AI Innovation Division, to embed with the client's operations, design and build solutions using generative AI and machine learning, and deliver them to the point where they run in real work.

About this role

Our AI Engineers are Forward Deployed Engineers. This is not a job where you receive a specification and implement it. You go into the client's operations, see for yourself what the real problem is, build something that works and test it together with them, and carry it through to production. You own that whole arc.

What you will do
  • Embed with the client's operations (Forward Deployed)Join the client's team and learn their workflow and problems first-hand.
  • Identify the problem and judge whether AI fitsSeparate what AI should solve from what it should not, and estimate the expected effect.
  • Build prototypes fastUse generative AI (LLMs), RAG, AI agents and machine learning models to build something that works in a short cycle, and validate it with the client.
  • Implement and deploy for productionBuild and roll out systems that hold up in the client's environment using Azure / AWS (OpenAI Service, Copilot, Digital Twins, Functions, Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Fabric, Kubernetes Service and more).
  • Improve after launchUse real usage and logs to keep improving accuracy, cost and response time.
  • Feed what you learn back inReturn the knowledge gained on engagements to our own services and modules.

Six months (working conditions are unchanged during this period) At the end of the probation period, confirmation of employment is decided based on an overall assessment of performance, conduct, ability to carry out the work, health and suitability.

Annual paid leave
10 days in the first year, plus 2 additional days each year thereafter (up to 30 days). Unused days carry over to the next year (carryover of the portion granted above the statutory minimum is capped at 10 days).
Compensation
Annual salary, paid in 12 monthly installments. Determined under the company's wage regulations, taking into account experience, ability and the outcome of the selection process.
Expected annual salary

Bonus
Whether a bonus is paid and its amount are decided in light of company performance and the individual's performance and contribution.
Allowances
Commuting allowance (actual cost, up to JPY 50,000 per month), telework allowance (JPY 3,000 per month), position allowance (for those in managerial positions)
Salary revision
Annual salary is revised once a year based on evaluation. Salary may be reduced depending on the evaluation result.
Overtime
Yes, within the scope of the Article 36 agreement. Overtime, holiday work and late-night work require prior approval from the company. Statutory premium pay is paid separately for the work performed. We do not use a fixed overtime pay system.

Fully remote work is available except when work at a client site is required. In recent practice, more than 90% of our employees work from home.
